Tops for February

Because I am way behind on writing up my projects this month, and because both of my February projects were pretty simple and straight forward, I’m combining them into one quick post.  I decided to knock out a couple of tops this month.

To start, I made a Skipper Dress, with the Barbie Top bottom half, (both from the Charm Patterns Patreon) to make a cute t-shirt. It was so quick and easy I ended up making two. In this thin turquoise jersey knit, I used the puff sleeve option.

For the navy and aqua stripe, I went with the cap sleeve. I had a very limited quantity of the stripe fabric, so I had to piece the sleeves together, and I am super happy with how I managed to get the stripes to match up! I think I stretched the sleeves a little too much while sewing on this one so I’m not 100% in love with them, but it’s still wearable so, whatever. I’m not sure how either of these fabrics came to live in my stash, but they might have been from the Michael Levine Loft in Los Angeles. That is where most of the knits in my stash come from.

I finished out the month by making a Rita Blouse (also from Charm Patterns) out of this lovely blue/purple gauzy cotton.  This fabric was picked up at an amazing sale at Rimmon’s Fabrics in Los Angeles. The fabric is pretty sheer, so I underlined the bodice pieces with a navy cotton salvaged from and old duvet cover.  I have made several versions of the Rita before, so to change it up, I added the bishop sleeve expansion from the Patreon.  I love this dramatic look! Now I just need somewhere fancy to wear it.
